We all react to color either positively or negatively. Color affects our first impression of a person or product; can make someone feel warm and cozy…or cold and even neglected.
Appropriate and accurate color selections are imperative to achieve the desired emotional response of your home or office. I work with the client’s current fabrics, furnishings, and existing architectural elements to bring together a cohesive color scheme. I specialize in color correcting, neutralizing overwhelming color, or giving color direction for remodeling, new home, and/or offices. Specified goals of the client, existing architecture, landscape, and functionality of space are all important considerations when selecting color.
If you are tired of “never getting it right” or are overwhelmed by the array of “tiny” swatches at the local paint retailer, then save yourself the expense of a costly mistake. For the cost of two gallons of quality paint you can have a Professional Color Consultation and be assured that you have it right…minus the guesswork!
Nothing brings more value or beauty to a dated space than a quality and well appointed remodel. Often remodeling is preferred over selling when homeowner considers dollars spent and ultimate customized character that can be applied. The cookie cutter mentality of builders in recent years has given homeowner’s a desire to look for, and create, a home that is unique and unlike the neighbor down the street.
We are living in an era where homeowners, largely baby boomers, have a need to maximize square footage like never before. This may involve adapting their home for the care of aging parents, young adults moving home to pay off school loans, or short stay arrangements for newlywed children wanting to save for their first home. Or, quite often empty nesters are simply ready to rid themselves of the blues and mauves of the 90’s or thinking ahead as to how they might prepare their current home for retirement.
Depending on budget and need, remodeling can be as custom or Do-It-Yourself as the client’s budget will allow. However, there is almost always a need for a keen eye to offer guidance and advice on a workable design plan, color selection, material and/or hard surface selections that will give the client a finished, updated and cohesive look. As in Room Design, every attention to architecture, location, client taste, lifestyle and budget are given for goal of gained equity should the client decide to sell.
Every attention to architecture, floor plan, function and current contents of a client’s home are taken into consideration when redesigning a single room or entire home. The ultimate goal is to establish a pleasing focal point, enlarge the space visually, and create more efficient traffic flow. When taking inventory of the available furniture, we look for pieces that are lacking their place of prominence. Often “reassigning” these pieces surprisingly can create a fabulous focal point or provide a functional purpose in another room. Room redesign is the least expensive way to change a home, without spending a dime! As designer, I strive to utilize what the client currently owns. However, the client always has the option of requesting color consultation or resourcing services for additional items to freshen and renew your space.
Windows are our inside connection with the outside. By letting in light and framing often focal point views, they create a sense of spaciousness and beauty to the homes in which we live. How they are treated has great impact on the character, mood and style of a room.
When it comes to deciding which window covering and/or treatment to choose, the starting point is the window itself. Windows come in a wide range of shapes, sizes, and styles. Windows are to be adorned, both functionally and decoratively in such a way as to not distract and overwhelm the room or the view.
Functionally, window coverings come in a wide range of offerings. From cellular energy saving options to silhouette light filtering options to the wonderful textures and glare reducing options available in solar roller shades .
Decoratively, window treatments have opportunity to add softness, texture, shine, while adding impact and drama to a room. While accessories are said to be the jewelry to a room, window treatments could be called the complimentary accent scarf. Imagine a great outfit without accented color, texture, pattern or shine. A room without appropriate window treatments can often look stark or lack softness and/or drama.
As designer, I bring the latest in Hunter Douglas window covering sampling and/or decorative Window Treatment fabrics and design options directly to your home to be viewed in your lighting. My partnership with a local Gallery Showroom allows you to fully view your selection(s) so there is no doubt you have made the right choice for your home.
